Joke of the Year: Welcome to Malta of the Middle Ages...

Speaking of the Danish Cartoon Crisis, Malta's Law is no way short of OUTDATED!

A 26-year-old man from Zejtun, Melvin Barbara, has been given a suspended sentence by the Gozo Courts after pleading guilty to ridiculing and making fun of the Roman Catholic religion.Melvin Barbara was accused that on the night between 21st and 22nd February 2009, he offended Roman Catholics or the ministers of this religion during the Nadur carnival.
He was accused of wearing a sacred habit without permission, or against the prohibition of the respective authorities.

Moody Days

I Wonder When it is my turn to die, Will I ponder on my days afar? Will I yearn for your arms and cry? When it is my turn to die, Will I despair in a lonely chill? Will I hold your hands in mine? We are today subjected to go through quasi-full body searches prior boarding any plane for fear that some zealous believer might feel called to blow all up to pieces for whichever cause. We are afraid to board busses, trains and now even to speak up, to express ourselves... Remember Van Gogh the Dutch Film maker? Now it’s the Danish cartoonists' time to be punished for touching the Holy Grail, the sancti sanctorum, crossing the dreaded red line of one's expressions rights in Europe. If they c...
